Anti-Roll & Sway Bars para Cadillac DeVille

Cadillac DeVille Sway Bars

Cadillac DeVille sway bars are an important part of your Cadillacs suspension system. A properly working sway bar will improve the effectiveness of your Cadillacs suspension and reduce the body roll of your DeVille when you drive around corners or over bumpy roads. To choose the right sway bar for your Cadillac DeVille and to improve its handling, you need to know how they work and what types are available.

How do sway bars work?

When a Cadillac DeVille drives over bumps or around corners, the shocks absorb much of the energy being exerted on the car and the main body of the vehicle tends to tilt. This tilting action is called body roll. Sway bars or anti-roll bars connect the left and right rear wheels of your Cadillac. The suspension system uses a torsion spring to link together short lever arms. The U-shaped bar experiences torsion when the cars wheels move over uneven terrain. The bar bends, absorbing the force. If the wheel on one side of the car has a heavy load, the sway bar transfers energy to the opposite wheel, balancing the chassis of the car.

Sway bars transfer energy from the most heavily loaded wheel through the connection and then through the flexible joints of the sway bar. The force then reaches the connection at the opposite wheel and transfers to it, balancing out the force exerted. This helps the main body of the Cadillac to remain more or less level.

What types of sway bars are there?

A replacement sway bar is an upgrade to your suspension and can increase the handling of your Cadillac. Here are the main sway bars to choose from.

  • Standard sway bar: These sway bars are fixed in place and connect to the Cadillac DeVilles rear wheels. The standard anti-roll bar is one solid piece and only bends in a certain spot.
  • Adjustable anti-roll bar: This type of sway bar works similarly to the standard sway bar, but instead of being one solid bar, it is segmented, allowing for adjustments in length. These adjustments can be made externally or from inside the Cadillac DeVille, depending on the model. The benefit of an adjustable bar is that you can tune the stiffness of the sway bar for different scenarios instead of replacing the entire system.
  • Strut suspension: This style of sway bar connects the wheel hub and the chassis with an additional hinge. It also allows the wheels to move both inward, outward, forward, and backward. The strut suspension sway bar can also use ball joint connections or a wishbone connection design.
