Different engines

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport has undergone serval facelifts over the years and as a result, there are several different engine models. The type of engine you choose will depend on the model of Land Rover Range Rover sport your own.

2004 to 2009 engine model

The first generation range rover sport was powered by a supercharged 4.2 litre all aluminium Jaguar engine. The engine was an AJ-V8 producing 300 hp. The aspirate 4.4 litre variant produced the same 300 hp but with greater capacity and torque. The engines were designed with a sump and oil pick up allowing the engine to draw fuel at extreme off-road angles.

In addition, Range Rover launched a 2.7-litre turbo diesel TDV6, adapting a Ford engine and producing the lower level 190 hp. The engine featured graphite, iron, and aluminium cylinder heads, with fast switching injectors. The 2007 Sport and Vogue models featured a 3.6-litre turbo diesel with a TDV8.

2009 to 2014 engine model

The 2009 range models include a new direct injected all aluminium 5.0-litre petrol V8 with aspirated and supercharges guises. The petrol engines were again supplied by Jaguar. The aspirated model produced 375 hp and the supercharged 510 hp. Also introduced was a heavily revised 3.0 litre TDV6 producing 240hp. The V6 was adapted from the Jaguar AJ-V6D Gen III. The 2009 to 2014 engines also saw a significant increase in fuel economy and a decrease in CO2 emissions.

2014 to 2018 modes

2014 edition Range Rover Sports included an upgrade to the 5.0 litre supercharged V8. The engine was again adapted from the Jaguar F-type. The engine produced 550hp, with an increased torque output.
