Suzuki Forenza Motor Mounts

Between battling the elements and poor road conditions, the everyday driving you do in your Suzuki Forenza can wear down and destroy the key components that keep you on the road. If you are hearing excessive motor noise while idling, feel vibration in the steering wheel and pedals, or feel the motor jump around when accelerating or braking, then it may be time to replace the motor mounts.

How do the motor mounts work?

There are many different models of mounts for your Forenza depending on what youre looking for, and while some are geared more towards performance, others will give your Suzuki Forenza the smoothest ride possible. They are all designed in the same fashion. The mount is a piece of steel bolted to the motor of your Suzuki sedan with a bushing made of a buffering material that bolts into a steel bracket that is attached to the frame. They work to both dampen noise and keep the motor in place within the frame of your Suzuki Forenza.

  • Motor mounts using a rubber bushing are the most common type available and the ones your Forenza rolled off the factory line with. The rubber absorbs noise and vibration from the engine mitigating what is felt inside the car. The engine has a bit of room to flex as it pushes up against the rubber, causing a small amount of power loss.
  • If you want a bit more power out of your Suzuki engine, then polyurethane mounts are what youre looking for. The material is a bit more durable and less flexible than rubber. This allows less movement, which translates to more power transferred to the drivetrain of your Suzuki Forenza. The downside is that they dont absorb as much noise and vibration.
  • For a high-performance choice there are solid engine mounts that dont use any sort of buffering material. They are metal-on-metal transmitting both maximum power to the drivetrain as well as vibration and noise inside your Forenza. These are associated more with special use than everyday commuting.
  • A unique option if you want a smooth and quiet ride are hydraulic mounts. They use hydraulic fluid, which fills a chamber running up the center of the mount. The liquid has great absorption ability.
Should you buy OEM or aftermarket motor mounts?

The main difference between the original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, and aftermarket motor mounts is that the former are made by Suzuki and are specifically designed for your Forenza, while the latter are made by third-party companies that make mounts that are more general in terms of which vehicles they can fit on. OEM has the backing of Suzuki but might not offer some of the more exotic options that aftermarket companies do, so make sure to look at everything offered by both in order to make the most informed choice for your Suzuki Forenza.
