Subwoofers allow you to enhance the sound of your home theater audio whether you are listening to music or watching a movie. Peavey subwoofers can come with an array of features, including 2-way configuration and input gain control. They also come in many different shapes and sizes to fit a variety of configurations.

There are two separate varieties of subwoofers available for you to select from, which are active and passive.

• Active: Oftentimes referred to as power speakers, these systems consist of built-in amplifiers that allow you to emit sound without the usage of a secondary device. They typically come with a wide range of settings that allow you to control facets of the amplifier to help ensure that the sound you produce is accurate. These systems are compact and consist of two separate amplifiers to handle both the low and high frequencies.
• Passive: This subwoofer variety exists within an enclosure that needs to be powered by some form of external amplifier in order for the audio to be properly produced. There are a variety of ways in which you can set up this type of system, such as with a crossover and stereo amplifier. This allows the audio to be sent to the primary loudspeakers and emitted.

These subwoofers can be equipped with a variety of features although the exact ones that you are provided with all depend on the specific model that you select. Most models are outfitted with an input gain control feature, which provides you with the ability to alter the bass levels that are produced by the system in order to match the exact output by the speakers within this system.

Some of these Peavey systems also provide you with a control that allows you to change the output of the unit depending on how many people are listening. Most of these units come equipped with 2-way configuration that consists of two drivers, one to control the low frequencies and another to control the mid-range frequencies. A selection of these Peavey systems will be listed as having full-range configuration, which means that they are comprised of three drivers. It is also possible to find units that are portable.

This term refers to how much power a speaker can handle, the number of which will be displayed to you when selecting one of these units. The power will be listed as watts, such as 30 or 60. When a system is listed as having 30 RMS, this means that it can support 30 watts of continuous power. With Peavey subwoofers, it is possible to find ones that support up to 2,000 watts of power.
