The Creeper made his debut in an issue of Showcase comics. Soon after debuting in this anthology book, The Creeper received his own series and comic mythos starting with Beware the Creeper in 1968. The issue count of Creeper comics ran from #1 to #6 spanning a short time period from 1968 to 1969. The Creeper received a solo mini-series decades later under the DC imprint of Vertigo. Over the years, The Creeper tangled with Batman and The Joker. The Creeper can be loosely considered a character within the Batman universe. However, in time, The Creeper developed his own independent character.

What team was hired to create The Creeper?

Two famous names from comic book history teamed up to create The Creeper. Denny O'Neil, writer and editor of scores of Batman comics, and Steve Ditko, the artist and co-creator of The Amazing Spider-Man, developed the concept of The Creeper. At the time, Ditko had recently left Marvel Comics, and The Creeper was one of the first books he wrote for DC Comics. O'Neil worked for both Marvel and DC over the years with his work on Daredevil and Batman being the two titles he is most associated with.
